DRAFT MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON WEDNESDAY 2 FEBRUARY 2022 AT KIRKSANTON VILLAGE HALL COMMENCING AT 07.30PM

Resolved to obtain 3 quotes for the resurfacing of the car park and apply for funding from the South Copeland Community Partnership fund

None received. Cllr Rand asked B. Cllr McGrath to ascertain who was responsible for the Nature Reserve in Millom

156/21.4 To consider the Budget Comparison Report as at 31 January 2022 and determine action need to address deviations from the budget.
It was resolved that £20k of reserves would be allocated to the resurfacing of the Church car park and the tennis court. Proposed Cllr Rand, Seconded Cllr Jopson

157/21 Village Matters

157/21.1 Silecroft beach car park, toilets and mobile unit
The Clerk was asked to obtain confirmation from the ice cream vendor.
The Clerk to pursue County Highways re planeings for the car park

157/21.2 Silecroft beach proposed new café
Information has been received that all legal documents have now been signed off and awaiting a start date from the contractor. Eric Barker to be invited to the March meeting for an update. B. Cllr McGrath to raise the delays with CBC

157/21.3 Play inspection report
Still awaiting quotations for resurfacing tennis court
Weeds/briars need knocking back. Contact prison for help

157/21.4 GDF
Cllr Cumming gave feedback from the first meeting of the Community Partnership. A leaflet drop is to be undertaken by RWM

157/21.5 Jubilee
A beacon to be placed on Black Combe. A request by Kirksanton Village Hall to use the village green as part of the celebrations was granted.
It was resolved that a celebration mug be purchased for every child in the Parish. Proposed By Cllr Wilson, Seconded by Cllr Rand
Cllr Jopson to estimate numbers required.
A jubilee tree to be planted in the Church car park in the Autumn

157/21.6 6. NALC consultation – OFCOM Postal Regulation Consultation.
To respond that the Post Office is a lifeline

160/21. Councillor Matters

An opportunity for Councillors to raise minor matters, not on this agenda, on behalf of residents
(Note. No discussion or decisions can be made on these matters but the Clerk may make investigations and/or they may be placed on a future agenda of the Council

  • Cllr Fell reported that the bench still had not been located. It was agreed that it would be located in the Whicham School car park by the donation box
  • Cllr Cumming queried whether the rubbish bin on the car park was broken
  • Cllr Fell reported that a snack van was trading from the large layby at Whitbeck. To monitor for increase in rubbish
  • Cllr Millar reported that litter picking equipment had been received to be stored in the village hall for community use.

161/21. DATE OF NEXT MEETING:
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 2 March 2022 at Silecroft Village Hall commencing at 7.30pm

There being no further business the meeting closed at 2125hrs.
