Cllr Louise Thomson

Councillor

Hi, I am Louise Thomson, I was born in Middlesbrough and lived in Teeside, Germany and Hertfordshire growing up as we moved around for my Dad's job at ICI.  I moved to Cumbria in 2008 first renting up in Loweswater but choosing to settle permanently in Whicham in 2010.

Before moving to Cumbria I lived in London working in the City and also spent some time working in Moscow and Hong Kong, I have a small business in the old farm buildings where I live and have previously worked at Brantwood in Coniston in the shop and the ticket booth. I work part time for the Diocese of Carlisle trying to help keep local church buildings open and in good repair.

I am a Mum to a teenage Son and am keen to help ensure this area remains an amazing place to live with great opportunities for our kids in the future.

Cllr Sal Millar

Councillor

Hello, I am Sal Millar, retired now, apart from running Bed and Breakfast in Silecroft and the odd graphics or pet portrait work.  I moved to Silecroft in 2005, but have known and loved it since my parents retired here in 1973. I knew the area well before that, from childhood holidays with my uncle, who lived and worked locally. My ex-husband’s job involved a lot of moves, so I have had several jobs.

I have worked as a technician, both in schools and hospitals, but my major employment has been in environmental education and interpretive graphics. When I first moved to Silecroft I worked at HMP Haverigg in the library. I was asked to join the Silecroft Beach Improvement Group in 2013 and have been involved with the cafe project since then.

I am also a director of Black Combe (Whicham) Community Interest Company.
