33/22 Village Matters

33/22.1 Silecroft beach car park, toilets and mobile unit
Cllr Rand reported that the mobile ice cream parlor was attending weekends.
An estimate had been received of £180 to repoint the roof ridge tiles and replace some broken tiles on the toilet block. Resolved to accept quote and get works completed.
Information from LDNP planning was that a maximum area of 200m3 would be considered permitted development. Quotes to be obtained.

33/22.2 Silecroft beach proposed new café
Still awaiting progress from Copeland Borough Council

33/22.3 Play inspection report
Spring on Kirksanton play area gate requires replacing. A post to be added to restrict opening.

33/22.4 GDF
Cllr Cumming gave feedback from the May meeting. The focus had been on a virtual meeting with a Canadian community who were in the same process of determining whether a GDF could be located. Been in the process since 2011.

33/22.5 Jubilee
Mugs being distributed around children.
Beacon – local farmer to take up on fell. Caravan Park have provided 1 x 47kg gas bottle. Lighting at 9.45pm. Letter of thanks to go to caravan park. Cllr Rand to purchase some wine/beer/plastic cups to toast the Queen. Cllr Millar to put on Silecroft Facebook page.

33/22.6 30mph Speed Limit – Silecroft
Request submitted to CCC for a 20mph speed limit in Village and 30mph to shore. Speed survey to be undertaken. May investigate purchase of speed awareness cameras.

34/22 To receive reports from representatives on outside bodies
South Copeland Partnership investigating the funding of a Development/Tourism Officer for South Copeland

35/22 CORRESPONDENCE:
To discuss any correspondence received for open discussion:
All other correspondence to be circulated in the normal manner for Council’s perusal

  • LDNP – parish representative voting paper received.
  • Email from Fishermen enquiring when they would gain access to water to wash down boats.

36/22. Councillor Matters
An opportunity for Councillors to raise minor matters, not on this agenda, on behalf of residents
(Note. No discussion or decisions can be made on these matters but the Clerk may make investigations and/or they may be placed on a future agenda of the Council

  • Cllr Rand requested an update from the Enforcement Officer on the Beach Hut
  • Cllr Wilson reported that information had been received that there had been misrepresentation on a planning application considered at the last meeting. The Clerk to contact LDNP planning
  • Cllr Cumming – Motorcross – bikes going onto the beach disturbing birds on the SSSI and Rama Sites. Quad bikes also seen going down onto the beach which is not permitted.
  • Cllr Cumming queried whether dogs were permitted off lead on Silecroft beach. It was ascertained that dogs should be on a lead on the car park environs only
  • Clerk requested that the notice board at Kirksanton be replaced. Cllr Rand to investigate/

37/22. DATE OF NEXT MEETING:
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Wednesday 6 July 2022 at Silecroft Village Hall commencing at 7.30pm
